Permanent and severe psychiatric damage affecting ability to work:
approximately £40,000

Permanent moderate psychiatric damage affecting ability to return to same quality of life as before:

Temporary but severe psychiatric damage:

Temporary but significant psychiatric damage and/or distress:

Chronic fatigue syndrome:

Brain injuries

Total loss of function and total loss of self awareness:

Very severe brain injury badly affecting communication and all the senses but not self awareness; the top of this bracket will deal with cases of total loss of both physical and mental function apart from self awareness:

Temporary loss of partial brain function lasting up to about 5 years:

Lesser head injuries:
approximately £1,000 to £10,000 depending on recovery time and the severity of initial symptoms
